What the captain supplies—and what you should bring

Separate included, extra, personal and unanswered items for the actual product.

Do not start a charter packing list with a shopping cart. First get the specific trip’s supplied equipment and services in writing. A general company page may describe several boats or packages; the selected product is the one that matters.

Four useful states

Included: clearly supplied for this trip and party. Extra: available but charged separately. Personal: the guest is expected to bring it. Unconfirmed: no reliable answer yet. Keep an unanswered item visible rather than changing it to free or unavailable.

Work through the list

Check rods/reels, tackle, bait, fuel, ice, food/drinks, fish cleaning and any licensing arrangements. Some are services, some are personal requirements and some depend on the actual party. A broad “all-inclusive” phrase does not answer every row.

For equipment, ask whether you need to bring anything beyond personal essentials. If you want to use your own rod, get approval for the method, storage and handling. For food, ask whether the boat has designated cooler space and what containers are permitted.

Make a practical request

“For this boat, date and party, please confirm what is included, what is extra and what each guest must bring.” Save the response with the reservation. An old FAQ can be useful background but should not override the actual current agreement.

Then build the personal bag, resolve license purchase and put required extras in the budget. The goal is fewer surprises and less unnecessary gear, not carrying every possible fishing item.
